Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home Obituaries

Henry A. Achin, 98, on November 23, 2022

Henry A. Achin, 98, of North Attleboro, MA passed away Wednesday night surrounded by his loving family. Henry left us to join a very large heavenly party and must be very excited to be reunited with his amazing wife Kendra Achin, daughter Peggy and son Kevin.  He will also be joining his parents Antonio and Imelda Achin and 9 siblings, Joe, Al, Gerard, Jeannette Achin, Doris Jarvis, Paul, Ronald, Theresa Berg and Roger and many many other family members and friends.

Henry has been a lifelong resident of North Attleboro, and just as he was graduating he was drafted into the military to serve in WWII. Upon returning from London, he worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph until retirement. To this day you can still find a telephone jack in every room of his house. He was a jack of all trades, master of none, but black tape, bungees, string and zip ties could accomplish most things he needed and he was quite the engineer.

In 1956, he married his love Kendra (Poirier) and together built a beautiful life together. Henry has been fortunate to enjoy retirement for 36 years, and he was able to enjoy some incredible vacations with family, many trips to the beach, family parties, floats in the pool, cooking, gardening, and really got to spend time with those he loved. If you were lucky enough to ever spend time with Henry you know his love for life, food, a good laugh, his family, a good sale, maple syrup,(the real stuff), salt , cooking, reading and always wanting to learn more. There was a way about him that he was always up to something, sometimes it was tricky to tell if it was good or not, but always up to something. Up until the very end he did things his way.

One of his most important roles has been father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he will be leaving behind his son Mike and Gail Achin of North Attleboro, daughter Kelly Achin of Attleboro and son Scott and Michele of New Hartford, NY, his grandchildren Ben and Ashley, Britt and Joe, Danielle and Tom, Sierra and Nic, Zach and Sue, Taylor and Phil, Kenzie and Chad, Maddie and Mitch and Ashley, his great-grandchildren Olivia, Nora, Parker, Tommy, Cecilia, Delilah and Emilia. He also leaves countless cousins, nephews, nieces, family and friends. Henry really was a friend to all, and will be deeply missed by many.

Visitation, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A memorial service in celebration of Henry’s life will be held at the conclusion of the visitation, beginning promptly at 6:00 PM. United States Army honors will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in Henry’s memory to MA APDA. He would love knowing he's helping his son further research for Parkinson's disease. Those wishing to make a donation may send a check or money order to American Parkinson Disease Association MA Chapter, ℅ Team DominAchin, 85 East Concord Street, Ground Floor, Boston, MA 02118.
