Billy Daniel Criscoe 8/20/2017

BILLY DANIEL CRISCOE of South Yarmouth, MA passed away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital from heart failure on August 20, 2017.  He was pre-deceased by his parents Willie and Cynthia Criscoe of Eagle Springs, North Carolina.

Bill is survived by his wife Miki Anderson Criscoe of South Yarmouth, MA, son Billy Daniel Roderick of New Bedford, MA , brother Carl, sisters Ruth Baldwin & Joyce of Eagle Springs, NC, sister Helen Linder of Aberdeen, NC and pre-deceased by sister Mary and brother Lenard; his grandchildren Xavier, Serenity, Trey & De’ja , Eric, Jr. and Vanessa Roderick, , many niece, nephews and cousins, and best friends Phillip Spencer and Fred Waterman.

He is also survived by his precious furbabies Dibi, his dog shadow and Manny, his sweet boy kitty.

Bill was a true gentle giant.  He was the kindest of men, always lending a helping hand no matter what.  He was a master landscaper who took pride in everything he did.  He wanted everyone’s yard to look as good as his.  Bill did not have one enemy in this world, not one and everyone who met him loved him.  Bill & Miki met on a blind date in October 1995 and soul mates were born.  For 22 years he had battled illness after illness including a perfect match kidney transplant in 2004 from his dear niece Tiffani Lopes, open heart surgery, diabetes along with numerous other challenges.  He came through every one with flying colors.  His body was tired and God brought him home on Sunday, August 20, 2017, his mother’s birthday.

Bill came to Cape Cod in the 1970’s as Prep Cook for his brother Carl who was Head Chef at Chatham Bars Inn, also working with brother Lenard, Sous Chef.  In 1980 Cape Cod became his home.  Bill was a maintenance worker for Comfort Inn and drove a route bus for Cape Cod Regional Transit until he had to retire in 2010 after heart attacks leading to his surgery.  In disabled retirement Bill stayed busy maintaining a beautiful home with Miki and helping others any way he could with their landscaping.  Before he passed he and Fred had completed a 4 month project to create a big garden, it will forever be known as the Bill Criscoe Victory Garden.

A memorial gathering is being planned for the Fall on Cape Cod.  There will be a private burial in North Carolina at a later date.

Bill, you were, and are a gentle giant indeed. I will miss your deep, relaxed drawl, seeing you in your chair, watching Dibi follow you around, and hearing Miki yell at you (to you) in my ear as I talk to her on the phone. You were and are a special man, Bill. There will never be another. Know that as long as I live, I will be here for Miki. As you watch over her from heaven, I will do my best to watch over her from Earth. God speed Bill. Enjoy heaven. Say hi to George.

Bill was a very special person to us. We became neighbors 6 1/2 years ago. He and Miki have stepped in to the roll as "adopted grandparents" to our 7 year old daughter Ella. Bill happily attended graduation's and gymnastic shows. We will miss his smile and laugh and his happy waves from over the fence. Truly a special man who is gone too soon. We know how much he and Miki loved one another. True soulmates. He is will God now, watching over us.
