Dorothy M. "Dottie" Kidder 06/09/2017

ATTLEBORO – Dorothy M. Kidder "Dot"/"Dottie", 79, of North Avenue passed away peacefully on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Home in Providence, RI surrounded by her loving and devoted family. 

Born November 6, 1937 in Westcott, RI.  She was a daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy (Caldamone) Philipp.

Dorothy grew up in Walpole and was a longtime resident of North Attleboro.  She moved to South Attleboro in 1997 and has been a resident of Attleboro since 2012.

Dorothy worked as a Security Guard for Leach and Garner Company for several years, a Police Matron for the North Attleboro Police Department and Cell Attendant at the Attleboro Police Department for 48 years,  and was a Crossing Guard in North Attleboro for many years.  She was a wonderful Mom.

She loved her family and friends.  She liked crocheting, sewing and enjoyed playing bingo. She also loved going to the Casino.  

She was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Plainville.

She was the former wife of the late Sydney S. Kidder who died in 1998 and is survived by two children: Donna Lomastro and husband Frank of North Scituate, RI and Marcus Kidder of South Attleboro;

4 grandchildren: Jennifer, Amy, Leanne and Michael;

4 great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Alexander, Jr. “AJ”, Brody and Annabelle; and expecting another great grand-son in August.

A sister: Judith FitzGerald and her husband, James of Mashpee and their son, James FitzGerald III (JP) and many cousins, nephews and nieces.

She was the sister of the late Joan McDonough.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, June 14 from 5-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, June 15 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Philip Hulitar Home and Hospice of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.

I had the privilege of knowing Dot for 30 years through her service at the APD. She was a wonderful woman with a great sense of humor. To know her was to love her. RIP. You'll be missed.

So very sorry for your loss, I loved your Mom she was a great friend as you Donna and Marcus know ,She will be missed and no more games on Facebook. Best to the whole family. I loved working with her also on the Police Dept , years ago..

The statement that she loved her family and friends is so true of Dorothy. From the time we all gathered at our grandparents house in West Warwick and through out all her life, Dorothy always had a smile on her face and a fun loving spirit.
