PLAINVILLE - Joseph B. Fredette, 87, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his wife and four daughters on May 31, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Brigitte (DesVergnes) Fredette, to whom he was married for nearly 55 years.
Joe was born in Fitchburg, MA, and was the seventh of eight children born to the late Paul and Anna Fredette.
Joe graduated from St. Bernard High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Army. He worked for over thirty years for the Federal Aviation Administration before retiring in 1986. He spent time traveling with his family, playing golf, and had an interest in genealogy researching his family tree back to 1690. Joe enjoyed many winters in Florida escaping the snow. Playing cards with family on a weekly basis was a favorite pastime. He was an honest, patient, dependable and hardworking man who appreciated the simple things life had to offer.
Joe was a man of faith and family. He was a devoted father to Jacqueline Bourque and her husband Marcel of North Smithfield, RI, Michelle Gill and her husband Robert of Norton, MA, Jeannie Duclos and her husband David of Plainville, MA, and Susan Boudreau and her husband Sean of Cumberland, RI. Joe was a cherished Peperé to Alex and Lauren Bourque, Daniel, Eric and Declan Gill, Joshua and Jonathan Carter, and Ethan, Ava and Jacob Boudreau. He is survived by his sister, Rose Jordan, and pre-deceased by his six other siblings: Sr. Florida, a Grey Nun of Charity, Paul, Bertha Sequin, Fr. Albert, a LaSalette Priest, Edmund, and Bro. Armand, a LaSalette Missionary in the Philippines.
Friends and relatives are cordially invited to attend a visitation at the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro from 9-10AM on Saturday June 10. A funeral Mass will immediately follow at 10:30AM at St. Martha’s Church, 219 South St. (Route 1A), Plainville. Burial to follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery 683 South Main Street, Rte. 152, Attleboro, MA.
