NORTH ATTLEBORO – Robert V. Pedro, 84, of Chestnut Street passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital surrounded by his devoted family.
He was the loving husband of Alma (O’Neill) Pedro who passed away in 1975 and the late Betty J. (Moran) Pedro who died in 2012.
Robert grew up in Attleboro and was a 1950 graduate of Attleboro High School. He lived many years in Taunton before moving to North Attleboro last year.
He was the owner and operator of Pedro’s Shell at 21 South Avenue in Attleboro for decades before retiring ten years ago.
Bob was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Highland Country Club where he once scored a hole-in-one. He also co-owned Wading River golf course in Norton for many years. Bob loved boating and kept his 33’ boat at Pope Island in New Bedford and enjoyed boat trips to Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard and elsewhere. He also bowled and sponsored a bowling league for Pedro’s Shell for many years.
Bob actively enjoyed retirement and lived life to the fullest, travelling to Bermuda, Bahamas and Puerto Rico.
He was a lifetime member of the B.P.O.E. “Elks” in Attleboro.
He is survived by five children: Kathryn Guimond and husband Paul of North Attleboro, Patricia Robbins and husband Scott of Attleboro, Virginia Ouellette and husband Roland of Rehoboth, Robert Pedro of Attleboro and Lawrence Pedro and wife Kimberly of Attleboro;
Two step-children: Joyce Brennick and companion Scott of North Smithfield, RI and John Moran of Florida;
A sister: Carolyn Cote of Virginia Beach, VA;
11 grandchildren: Jason, Marc, Katie, Eric, Sarah, Danielle, Jessica, Corey, Scott, Kendra and Nicholas;
And 19 great-grandchildren.
He was brother of the late Geri Mullaney and Lawrence V. Pedro.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 21 from 5-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Saturday, April 22 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock. Burial to follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
