NORTH ATTLEBORO – Russell R. Reid, Jr., 85, of North Attleboro passed away early Monday evening, March 6, 2017 at Madonna Manor Nursing Home in North Attleboro.


He was born September 10, 1931 in Manchester, NH and was a son of the late Russell R. Reid, Sr. and Verna (Smith) Reid.

Russell lived several years in Sharon before moving to North Attleboro in 1962.

He worked as a machinist at Plainville Aggregate for many years before retiring from Microwave Technologies in Plainville. 

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Russell enjoyed archery and was a longtime member of the Walpole Sportsman’s Club.  He also enjoyed photography, bird watching and bike riding.

He is survived by his four children: Russell R. Reid III of North Attleboro, Gary A. Reid of Foxboro, Elizabeth Shepley of Brockton and Robert A. Reid of North Attleboro.

5 grandchildren: Sheri Rushing, Derrick Reid, Steffaney Smith, Tyler Gngsby and Dylan Gngsby;

Three great-grandchildren: Alexus Clark, Krista Hebert and Gabriel Reid;

And two brothers: James Reid of Norton and Steven Reid of Florida.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 12-2 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.  A funeral service will be held immediately after visiting in the funeral home at 2 p.m.  Burial will be held privately at a later date.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayer to the Reid family. Russ was a very nice man. I have fond memories of him growing up.

Prayers for my Cousins and their Children who lost a great man. Uncle Russ was always so kind. I have fond memories of him as a child. I also was blessed to get to know him as an adult. He was a joy to talk with, he loved talking about his children. He took the last photo I have of me and Grammy Reid. With much Love, Prayers and Hugs to all that loved him too. Debby Reid Gibson
