Joan A. Reischuck 08/20/2016

Joan A. Reischuck, 85, of Attleboro passed away Saturday, August 20 at home. She was the loving wife of Fred Reischuck, with whom she resided at Golden Living/Garden Place.

Born on Staten Island, New York City in 1931 to Margaret (Wolfe) Harris and Walter Harris, Joan graduated from St. Peter’s High School for Girls in 1949. She married Fred in 1954, and they made their home at various times in Clinton, NJ; Warwick, RI, and Medina, OH. They moved from Ohio to Attleboro in 2004.

Joan worked as a stenographer in the insurance industry in New York City before her marriage; afterward, she was a homemaker and, during their time in Ohio, assisted her husband at his business, Val-Flo Controls.

She was a parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Church in Medina, Ohio and was the first female member of that parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a devoted member of the society and enjoyed the companionship of her fellow society members.

Earlier in her life she had belonged to the Dignus Club (Staten Island) and the Clinton Junior Women’s Club. She met informally with her Clinton neighbors in a sewing and knitting circle. She created a popular family spare rib recipe and enjoyed watching old movies, singing and listening to her husband play the accordion. During their years in Ohio, Joan and Fred were active and enthusiastic members of both a sing-along club and a bridge club.

In addition to her husband, Joan is survived by her three children, Valerie Cooper of Providence, RI; Linda (Thomas) Taylor of North Attleboro, MA; and Albert (Valerie) Reischuck of Kent, OH; seven grandchildren, Margaret (Eric) Steele of East Bridgewater, MA; Susan (Richard) Emery of Moranbah, Queensland, Australia; Thomas (Brianne) Taylor of Norwalk, CT; Mickey Taylor of North Attleboro; Jessie Cooper of Providence, RI; Ava and Alec Reischuck of Kent, OH; great-grandchildren Alexa, Brooklyn and Hugo Emery; Klara and Joanna Steele, and Thomas and John Taylor. She was predeceased by her brothers, James and Ted Harris.

Visiting hours will be held Friday August 26, 2016 from 8:30-9:30am in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro followed by a mass in Sacred Heart Church, 58 Church St., North Attleboro at 10am. Burial will be privatley held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St.Vincent de Paul Society, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Dear Valerie and Linda: I just found out about your mom's passing today. I was thinking of her around Christmas--I had no idea she had died. I'm sure my mother is enjoying her company in heaven! I loved your mom, she was a wonderful godmother. My condolences to you both and to Albert, of course.

Dear Linda, Val and Albert,
How very sad I was to hear of of your Mom's passing. Reading the obituary brought back so many wonderful memories of the time that your family was in Medina. I especially enjoyed the years that I spent with them involved at St Francis. Your parents certainly lived their Catholic faith. I'm sure your Mom was so proud and happy to be with her beautiful and large family. Please know that I send my sincere thoughts and prayers to you and all your families.
With love
Sheila Feron Benson
