NORTH ATTLEBORO – Bernice “Bunny” F. Prendergast, 87, of North Attleboro passed away Monday, May 23, 2016.  She was the beloved wife of the late John Prendergast for 45 years until his death in 2006.

Born April 27, 1929 in East Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Grace (Wolfe) Schultz.

Bernice grew up in East Providence and was a 1946 graduate of East Providence High School.  She moved to North Attleboro after marrying John in 1961.

She worked at AMICA Mutual Insurance Co. in Providence, RI for 15 years in the underwriting department.

Bernice was musically gifted and was a member of an orchestra in her younger years.

Bernice loved to travel.  She spent many vacations at Lake Willoughby in Westmore, VT and also extensively traveled the country and took many trips to Europe, the Caribbean, and enjoyed many cruises.  Even into her 80’s she parasailed and took a hot air balloon ride.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Attleboro.

Bernice is survived by her devoted daughter Diane Prendergast of North Attleboro; her brother Preston Schultz of Seekonk and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 31 from 4-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.

A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 1 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro.  Burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Mary’s Church Roof Fund, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro, MA 02760.

Diane - Bill and I are so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. You and she are in our thoughts and prayers. We will visit with you on Tuesday.
