Henry Clinton Caldwell 03/26/2016

 North Attleboro –  Henry Clinton Caldwell, 94, died Saturday morning, March 26, 2016 in Scarborough Maine.  He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Geraldine B. Caldwell who predeceased him.

Born July 12, 1921 in North Attleboro, he was the son of the late Clinton B. Caldwell and Edith N. Caldwell.   Henry was a long time resident of North Attleboro, graduating from North Attleboro High School in 1938 and Bryant College in 1940.   He had a long career in the automotive industry working at Westminster Motors and Baker Ford before retiring as controller from Tasca Lincoln Mercury.

Henry joined the U.S. Navy in 1942 and served as a fire controlman third class on the USS Benson during World War II.  After the war, he was a member of the Tin Can Sailor Association with his wife Geraldine for many years.  He was also a North Attleboro Call Fireman for many years and was honored as a Grand Marshall of Kids Day Parade in 2013.

He loved to travel especially on cruises and tours throughout the United States, Hawaii, Ireland, Florida and the Caribbean.   He was also an avid reader but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.

Henry is also survived by one son, David H. Caldwell and his wife Nancy of Duluth, GA and a daughter Cindy M. Caldwell of Wells, ME; two daughters-in-law Carol Caldwell and Sue Caldwell of North Attleboro MA; seven grandchildren Heather Barrows of North Attleboro MA, Jason Caldwell of Norcross GA, Christine Katsel of Mont Vernon NH, Joshua Caldwell of Accokeek MD, Julie LaRocque of Sebastopol CA, Carrie Caldwell of North Attleboro MA, and Amy DiCarlo of North Attleboro MA and twelve great grandchildren.

He was the father of the late Sandra J. Carter, Stephen M. Caldwell and Gary R. Caldwell, brother of the late Martha Rice and Lester Caldwell and grandfather of the late Eric Carter.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, March 30 from 4-8 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro.

A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Thursday, March 31 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro at 10 o’clock.  Burial to follow at Newell Burying Ground, South Attleboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Henry’s memory may be made to either St. Andre’s Nursing Home, 407 Pool St, Biddeford ME 04005 or the North Attleboro Fire Department Kids Day fund, 50 Elm Street P.O. Box 904, North Attleboro MA 02760.

We are so blessed to have known and loved Henry and thank the Caldwells for sharing him with us; we feel honored to count ourselves as honorary Caldwells. We'll miss his beautiful smile and wonderful laugh! Such a life well lived! God bless you, Henry!
