at the New England Institute School of Embalming in Boston, he then
started as an embalmer and general services to Boston and suburban funeral
homes. He founded McHoul Funeral Home on Adams Street serving Dorchester
families in 1950 and continued his embalming service and broadened it
to the New England area. At one time he was responsible for handling
every death of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office and
transportation of all remains from Logan Airport. His three sons followed in the business and each started their own funeral homes, with Donald managing and eventually owning the Dorchester operation. Al still resides at the Dorchester funeral home with his wife of 66 years, Mildred (Hennessy). |
